Las Cruces Community Health Approach to Addiction

Picture
Determining Our Priorities for Special Projects
We are always asking ourselves several questions to guide us in what we decide to do and how we plan to carry out an initiative in any of the model levels indicated above:
1. Do we have a significant community health problem in terms of severity and extent of disease burden?
2. Do we have a proven best practice intervention that will address the problem?
3.  Do we have the resources (e.g., staff, space, funding) to implement the intervention?
4.  Do we have other community partners in coalitions, councils or contracts that may collaborate with us in a given initiative?
5.  Do we need to have formal agreements or legal documents to implement the chosen initiative?

The Doña Ana County Health & Human Services Department coordinates a community committee regarding substance use disorders (SUD) that meets regularly each month— Opioid+360 on the 3rd Wednesday at 10:00 am.  It is generally a hybrid meeting in person and via video conferencing.  You may email the committee coordinator for more information to participate.
