During 2024 AHC received notices of congressional directed spending from Senator Martin Heinrich and Representative Ben Ray Lujan to remodel and expand Amador’s Suite D (Annex). The present facility, which served as the original clinic site in 1991, is approximately 2048 sq ft and houses a team of six (6) staff working in Recovery Support Services (RSS). We see this new and improved drop-in facility as an "Opportunity Center," suggesting some sort of new beginning, second chance, or future potential related to recovery, rehabilitation or resiliency for wellness and wellbeing.
With these federal resources Amador will develop a more robust drop-in center that embraces the best of similar models that are found here in New Mexico and elsewhere as noted below. The proposed drop-in center will have the guiding priorities of harm reduction; social determinants/drivers of health; integration of medical, behavioral, and social services; and inter-agency/disciplinary collaboration. Construction should begin in Q1 CY 2025.
